Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a tough topic. It is hard to forgive when something has hurt you so bad. It is hard to forgive when that pain changes you. It is hard to forgive when you've lost a part of yourself at the fault of someone else's actions.

Forgiveness is tough. Forgiveness is hard.

Forgiveness however, is a necessary thing. You can't hold on to all those emotions forever, it'll only continue to break you. We have all experienced having to forgive someone.

I like to think of the many times God has forgiven us! None of us are truly worthy of His forgiveness, yet He always forgives us. We can always fall back on Him. In the process of being Christ like, it involves forgiveness because that is what Christ would do.

I also think of the times I've experienced forgiveness by people myself. I am grateful for people giving me second opportunities and chances throughout the years. Just like the person you need to forgive, you have also needed forgiveness too.

The degree to which you might feel hurt can't always be healed or forgiven from day to night. It is not wrong to take your time with forgiving, just know that it is necessary and the process of forgiving will be helpful for your personal healing. I've often times heard situations where it just feels like you will never be able to forgive. If you're in this place now, that too is valid.

Forgiveness is a process and you first have to start by knowing and acknowledging how you feel. Allow yourself to be your first priority for your own wellbeing. Remember, what was done to you and how someone made you feel, should not take over your life as a person.

A reminder I've had for myself is to know that I am more than what was done to me.

Perhaps this is not really what you wanted to see today. It is hard and uncomfortable when we try to avoid all these feelings, but really I hope it brings you to check in on yourself because you matter too.
